Privacy policy

PlanSnap is an iPhone app that scans rooms with the LiDAR sensor and turns them into floor plans. Everything it does happens on your phone. There is no PlanSnap server, no account to create and no sign-in, so there is no copy of your work anywhere but the device in your hand.

What we collect

Nothing you scan. There is no PlanSnap server and no PlanSnap database holding your scans, your photographs, your room dimensions, your addresses or your export packs. We do not ask for your name or your email address to use the app, we have no account system, and we do not build a profile of you.

The app does send anonymous diagnostic and usage events, which are described under Diagnostics and usage below. Those events never carry a measurement, an address or an image.

The material a scan produces stays on the phone in the app's own storage:

• The 3D room model and the measurements taken from it
• Photographs captured during a scan
• Property names, room names and any notes you type
• Generated floor plans, PDFs and export packs

That material leaves your phone only when you choose to send it somewhere using the iOS share sheet — emailing a PDF, saving a pack to Files, dropping it into a listing. Once you hand it to another app or service, that app or service handles it under its own terms, not ours.

Deleting your data

Delete a property or a scan inside PlanSnap and it is gone from the phone. Delete the app and everything it stored goes with it. Because nothing is held remotely, there is no separate deletion request to make and nothing left behind for us to erase on your behalf.

Subscriptions, RevenueCat and Apple

PlanSnap Pro is an in-app subscription. Two companies are involved and neither of them sees your scans.

Apple takes the payment. The purchase happens through your Apple Account in the App Store, and Apple handles your payment details under Apple's own privacy policy. We never see your card, your billing address or your Apple Account details.

RevenueCat handles the subscription itself. It manages subscription state — whether a purchase went through, whether it is still active, whether a restore is valid — and it receives anonymised purchase events only. It never receives scan data, images, measurements or addresses. RevenueCat's handling of that purchase information is covered by RevenueCat's privacy policy.

Diagnostics and usage

PlanSnap sends anonymous diagnostic and usage events to Loop, a bug-reporting and analytics service, so we can see when something fails for real people and fix it. This is the only thing the app sends anywhere on its own.

Each event carries the device model, the iOS version, the app version, your locale, the network type, a session identifier, and an anonymous reporter identifier — twelve random characters generated the first time you open the app and kept in the device keychain. That identifier is not Apple's advertising identifier, it is not tied to any account, and it identifies nothing but an anonymous install.

Alongside that goes the name of what happened — a scan that failed to segment, an export that could not be written, a purchase that did not complete, or a milestone such as “finished onboarding” or “first export”. The rules governing what may travel with an event are written into the app's source: counts, ranges, true or false, and names the app itself defines. Never a room dimension, a floor area, an address, a postcode, a coordinate, a property or room name, a file path or an image. An area is a fingerprint of a property, so it is on the forbidden list along with everything else that could identify one.

None of this is used for advertising, none of it is shared with data brokers, and the app contains no advertising SDK and does no tracking in Apple's sense of the word.

Permissions the app asks for

Each permission is requested at the moment it is needed, never up front, and refusing one only disables the feature that depends on it.

• Camera. Required to scan. The LiDAR sensor and the camera work together to build the room model, and the frames are processed on the device.
• Location. Optional. PlanSnap can stamp a scan with GPS coordinates so the record shows where the property was measured, which is useful for insurance-style record keeping. The coordinates are stored with the scan on your phone and are not sent anywhere.
• Motion. PlanSnap reads device motion while you scan, which is how it calibrates and keeps the measurements accurate as you walk. The readings are used in the moment and are not stored or sent.

Children

PlanSnap is a tool for people managing, letting, selling or renovating property. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect anything from a child. The app asks for no name, no email address and no date of birth from anyone, and the diagnostic events it sends identify an anonymous install rather than a person, so there is no children's personal data for us to hold.

Your rights under UK GDPR

UK data protection law gives you the right to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. For everything you scan, those rights are already in your hands: the data is on your device, you can view it, change it, export it and delete it directly in the app, and we hold no copy to produce, amend or erase.

For the diagnostic and usage events described above, write to [email protected] quoting nothing more than the request itself and we will find and delete the records for your install. Because the reporter identifier is anonymous and lives only in your device's keychain, deleting the app removes the only link between you and those records.

Changes to this policy

If the app changes in a way that affects this policy, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will also be described in the App Store release notes.
